Why The Tax Summit

As part of building trust among taxpayers, the KRA Taxpayers' week has since 2015 been expanded to the entire month of October to widen its scope and reach. One of the key Taxpayers' Month activities is the Annual Tax Summit.

The purpose of the Summit is to bring together actors from various Tax Administrations, as well as other key stakeholders (private sector, policy experts, think tanks, academia, media and civil society) to deliberate on solutions for various tax challenges affecting Africa tax administrations. The Summit is also a public participation platform aimed at enhancing discussions, providing status of interventions in Tax and Customs administration and feedback from stakeholders on solutions and ideas in fostering Tax and Customs administration. .

The 7th Annual Tax Summit, 2021, the second of the COVID-19 era portends to be among the biggest events in Tax this year.

  • To improve African tax systems by sharing ideas, innovations and strategies successfully implemented in other jurisdictions.
  • To enhance the capacity of tax officials on the continent by interactions through networking, knowledge exchange and collaboration.
  • To create a platform for tax policymakers and tax administration officials on the continent to collaborate on improving tax policy decisions that will positively enhance Domestic Revenue mobilisation.
  • To establish a continental cooperative framework for addressing tax challenges and pursue more taxing rights for African countries, including taxing of the digital economy and BEPS.
